The mission of Central Oklahoma Integrated Network Systems (www.coinsaccess.org) is to serve and support member organization’s efforts to provide quality health care services, enhance the health status of the community, and improve access to care of the uninsured in the most efficient, cost-effective manner through collaboration with other health care safety-net providers.
COINS works to help simplify health care access to services and quality of care for the low-income uninsured and those who choose to provide those services. One medium through which COINS facilitates this is by offering ongoing training and professional development for its staff via its network-wide learning management system (LMS). By developing online curricula and integrating it into its LMS, COINS can effectively share essential knowledge with all of its employees.
Relying on grants and other sources of donations and contributions, COINS must find a way to balance its demanding obligations to its network, community and employees with sometimes limited resources. In order to help alleviate and simplify the sometimes arduous task of creating online courseware, Avalon Consulting introduced COINS to its Applied Dynamic e-Learning Processes and Tools (ADEPT) methodology for accurately and efficiently designing, developing and implementing web-based training. Avalon donated its consulting services to educate COINS on how to apply the process and tools effectively. COINS is now able to create more courses in a shorter period of time to ensure its employees have access to the real-time training they need to best serve and support those who depend most on their services.
